Earthworks of three sub-circular and irregularly shaped pits, between 23m and 38m long, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the available historic maps, although earthworks labelled as ‘Quarry’ are shown in proximity to the north on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map. They are therefore interpreted as post-medieval or early 19th century quarries which had likely passed out of use by the mid to late 19th century.
