The visible earthwork corresponds with a field boundary depicted on Tithe Map for Ugborough.

The visible earthwork does not correspond with any boundary depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch First Edition map.

A curvilinear bank circa 4m wide and 125m long is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946 and visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019, on the north-west facing slopes west of Dunwell Quarry.
The visible earthwork corresponds with a field boundary depicted on 1843 Tithe Map for Ugborough, but not the Ordnance Survey 1880s First Edition 25inch map.
The relict earthwork is interpreted as the remains of a field boundary of probable medieval origin that had been cleared as part of later-19th century agricultural improvements.
