Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

An irregularly shaped earthwork hollow circa 36 by 56m in size is identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019 on the south-facing combe slopes overlooking the Sheepham Brook.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit depicted on the Tithe Map for Modbury, but a dog-leg in the course of a field boundary depicted immediately to the south could be interpreted as respecting the site of the earthwork.
As such, the pit is interpreted as a possible quarry or extractive pit of medieval to post-medieval date that had passed out of use by the early 19th century.
