A dark circular cropmark, approximately 9 metres wide, is visible on aerial photographs taken in 2002. Its shape and size suggests that it could have formed over an infilled Second World War bomb crater, although it may instead be one of numerous post-medieval or 19th century extractive pits in this area depicted on the historic maps or implied from placenames.
