A sub-oval pit, circa 35m long by 20m wide, is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019. The pit corresponds with a copse on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map. Earthworks labelled as ‘Quarry’ are also shown on this map in proximity to the northeast and southwest. This supports the interpretation that the earthwork represents a post-medieval or early to mid-19th century quarry which had likely passed out of use by the late-19th century, by which time woodland had become established here.
