Several curvilinear earthwork ditches, approximately one metre wide, are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1945 and on images derived from lidar data captured in 2013, on the south- facing valley slopes west of Holwell Farm. They broadly follow the contour, dropping less than 5 metres across a visible length of approximately 375 metres. They are interpreted as part of a post-medieval or 19th century catchmeadow system. The water source appears to be the natural watercourse, although this potentially worked as an integrated system where manure from the farmstead was mingled with water to both fertilise and irrigate the field. One of the leats is depicted on the late-19th century mapping and the system was probably in use in the late-19th century.
