The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition map.

An oval pit circa 13m by 16m in size is identifiable as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019 as an earthwork on the west-facing slopes west of Whympston Farm.
The pit is interpreted as a small quarry or extractive pit. The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25inch map and it is likely that the pit had ceased to be used by the early 19th century.
