The visible earthworks do not correspond with any feature depicted on the Tithe Map for Modbury.

A linear hollow or ditch circa 13m wide is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 and visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019 crossing the north-facing slopes between Leighmoor Cross and Hangman’s Cross for circa 240m.
The earthwork does not correspond to any feature depicted on the Tithe Map for Modbury and is not in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, which has been identified by HLC as of post-medieval character.
It is interpreted as possible evidence of a former road or track, potentially of medieval date. However, it could be evidence of a route originating in an earlier period.
