A deeply incised earthwork hollow circa 10m wide and 94m long is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards crossing the north-facing slopes to the north-west of Stolliford Farm.
The incised character of the earthwork might support an interpretation as a former road or track of possible medieval origin.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any feature depicted on the Tithe Map for Modbury. They may be evidence of a route of possible medieval origin that predated the creation of the Modbury to Kingsbridge turnpike, a Toll House of which is situated circa 50 to the west (MDV5061).
The earthwork remains clearly identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019.
