Name:Enclosure on Corndon Down

Summary

A small prehistoric enclosure built in to a larger enclosure on the lower north slopes of Corndon Down. The smaller enclosure is sub-rectangular and has an area of 32m by 22m. It was incorporated into the north longwise wall of a rectangular enclosure of 106m by 45m. The walls of both enclosures are very spread. Stone has been robbed and the site has been ploughed, probably in medieval times. No associated hut circles have been identified.

(14/03/2008) SX 6785 7587 A small prehistoric enclosure built in to a larger enclosure on the lower north slopes of Corndon Down. The smaller enclosure is sub-rectangular and has an area of 32m by 22m. It was incorporated into the north longwise wall of a rectangular enclosure of 106m by 45m. The walls of both enclosures are very spread. Stone has been robbed and the site has been ploughed, probably in medieval times. No associated hut circles have been identified.
