A pit is identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 as an oval earthwork up to circa 24m across, cut into the north- facing slopes to the north-east of Rowden Cross
The corresponds with a small plot on the Tithe Map for West Alvington listed in the Apportionments as Plot 1014, Waste in Rowden Hill.
This might support the interpretation of the pit as a former extractive feature, potentially of post-medieval origin, that had ceased to be worked prior to the early-19th century.A pit is identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 as an oval earthwork up to circa 24m across, cut into the north- facing slopes to the north-east of Rowden Cross
