Full description
Rainbird, P. + Passmore, A., 2016, Prehistoric and Romano-British Remains and a Post-Medieval Brickworks at Knowle Lane, Cullompton, Devon, 173-4, fig 2 (Article in Serial). SDV363912.
The second phase of excavations on the site at Knowle Lane in 2011 uncovered 15 sherds of Middle Neolithic pottery from a pit (F187), a long with two worked flints and chert artefacts. The remains in the pit appear charred and may represent the remains of a cremation, although no skeletal remains were present.
Further Middle Neolithic pottery was recovered from another pit feature (F198) adjacent to the above feature and a curvilinear gully (F286) a short distance to the north of the pits.
