Sub-oval and irregularly shaped earthworks of three pits, between 15m-21m long, and a mound, circa 30m long, are visible on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2005. The earthwork mound corresponds with an oval feature on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map and an earthwork is shown in this location on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map. An earthwork labelled as ‘Quarry’ (MDV50994) is also shown in proximity to the north on the early 20th century Second Edition Ordnance Survey map. The earthworks are therefore interpreted as the pits and an associated spoil heap of post-medieval or 19th century quarries which had possibly passed out of use by the late 19th century. Earthworks are shown here on the 2020 Ordnance Survey MasterMap.
