Summary

Sub-rectangular enclosure, 130m by 110m and 1.3 hectares, is primary and has walls about 2 to 3m wide and in fair condition, built of massive boulders and orthostats with 2 entrances. It contains ten terraced hut circles, average internal diameter 6.5m, walls 1.2m wide and all except one are in fair condition.

This sub-rectangular enclosure, 130m by 110m and 1.3 hectares, is primary and has walls about 2 to 3m wide and in fair condition, built of massive boulders and orthostats with 2 entrances. It contains ten terraced type II hut circles, average internal diameter 6.5m, walls 1.2m wide and all except one are in fair condition.
Two are built against the enclosure wall and the remainder are free standing. Seven of the huts have entrances in the south quadrant; one 1.3m wide marked by transverse slabs and another 0.7m wide marked by orthostats 1.2m high.

Enclosure 'A' at the prehistoric settlement at 'Hickaton Hill South-east' is the largest enclosure containing ten hut circles with diameters between 5.3 to 6.8 metres diameter crowded into the northern half of the enclosure. Several have been dismantled but the largest built into the dividing wall still retains doorposts on either side of the 0.6 metre wide entrance. To the south-east of the enclosure two gaps across the wall next to an exterior pen of 2.5 metres diameter are apparently later features. Another gap through the western perimeter may be original. It seems to connect a single slabbed extension on the outside with a part of the interior divided off by a curved bank.
