A rectilinear pit circa 8m wide and 15m long is identifiable as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019 cut into the south-west facing slopes to the north of Ward Mine.
The earthwork is possible the remains of an extractive pit. It does not correspond with any feature depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition map but might date to the late-19th to early 20th century.
The south-eastern end of the pit appears to be obscured by a dump of probably recent farm waste.
