A hollow circa 5m wide and up to 225m long is identifiable as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019 crossing the west-facing slopes overlooking the River Tamar between South Ward Farm and Helston Farm.
The visible earthwork does not correspond with any feature depicted on the Tithe Map for Bere Ferrers or the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map, but does appear to be aligned on a dogleg in a track at its northern end and possibly a gate at the south-west end.
The hollow is interpreted as the remains of a former road or trackway probably of post-medieval origin, from Helston Farm to an access point to the saltmarsh on the Tamar, possibly associated with access to the site of a former limekiln (MDV53115).
