The visible earthworks correspond with a pit depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition map.

A rectilinear pit circa 22m long and 6m wide is identifiable as a west-east aligned earthwork on the east-facing combe slopes to the south of Buttspill Wood, on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019.
The visible earthwork corresponds with, but is longer than, a pit depicted on the Ordnance Survey First and Second Edition 25inch maps. The pit is surrounded on three sides, most obviously the eastern downslope side, by slight banks, presumably spoil.
