A subtle earthwork bank circa 20m wide and 140m long is identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019, crossing the contours of the south-facing slopes to the north-west of Alston, Buckland Monachorum.
The visible earthwork does not correspond with any boundary depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey but is in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, which is probably of medieval origin.
The bank is interpreted as the remains of a former field boundary of medieval date that was cleared by the mid-19th century.
