A curvilinear earthwork ditch, approximately two metres wide, is visible on images derived from lidar data captured from 2005 onwards, following the contour south of Sydenham Mill. It is visible on the 1940s RAF aerial photographs, and bare ground where it passes through a gap in the hedgebank suggest that it was used as a trackway. However it appears to have been heading to a pond depicted on the historic mapping, and is more likely to be a water channel that went out of use by the late-19th century. It is possible that it was associated with industrial activity to the west (MDV3822). An additional curvilinear ditch to the south-east of the mill does not fit an interpretation as a water channel, but manifests in a similar way.
