Summary

Roughly circular in shape, measuring 3.0 metres in diameter. The walls, built of granite moorstones, survive up to two courses high in places, and measure 0.5 metres wide and 0.5 metres high (maximum). The interior is terraced into the hillside and a possible entrance is situated in the western side.

(20/04/1976) SX 60557855 There are about six (possibly more) prehistoric hut circles among Foxholes clitter south-south-west of Crow Tor.

(23/09/1994) A hut circle lies on the edge of a clitter field to the south-west of Crow Tor at the foot of a west-facing slope at SX 60550 78550. It is roughly circular in shape and measures 3.0 metres in diameter. The walls, built of granite moorstones, survive up to two courses high in places, and measure 0.5 metres wide and 0.5 metres high (maximum). The interior is terraced into the hillside and a possible entrance is situated in the western side.

(19/06/1998) There are no traces of any huts at the grid reference given by Greeves. There is however a single hut at SX60697859 lying 15.4 metres east-south-east of the newtake wall in this area. This hut is not of national importance and survives as a 3.5 metre diameter area surrounded by a 1.2 metre wide and 0.3 metre high rubble wall. A rubble spread south-east of the hut may be artificial or natural. Slight spreads of rubble downslope on the edge of the clitter may be the result of limited field clearance. Grass and bilberry cover.

(30/11/2004) Merrivale Range Baseline Condition Survey visit. A possible small enclosure is attached to the south side. The hut is in a stable condition amid clitter and under short grass.
