Full description

Fox, A., 1969, Swincombe Survey (Report - Survey). SDV250998.

Approximately 200 yards (183 metres) south of SX 67 SW 64 a cairn circle and cist, diameter 40 feet (12.2 metres), with two earthfast stones on the perimeter. Other details: 4a.

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1977, SX67SW59 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV237750.

Lady Sayer and Dr Ralegh Radford report (circa 1970) an additional cairn circle at SX617702 'the stones just protrude. '
Nothing found during Ordnance Survey visit.

Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England, 1985, Aerial Photograph Project (Interpretation). SDV319854.

Not visible.

Probert, S. A. J., 1986, Untitled Source (Report - Survey). SDV237751.

On a gentle northern slope is a peaty mound 3.5 metres in diameter and 0.3 metres high. On its western perimeter are two large earthfast stones 0.6 metres high. Several smaller ones protrude through the peat near the centre indicating a stone content. There is no evidence of a cist, as stated by Fox, whose diameter for the cairn suggests confusion with some other site.

Gerrard, S., 2004, List of Sites Remaining to be Considered for Designation on Dartmoor (Un-published). SDV345444.

This site was considered for designation as a Scheduled Ancient Monument during the Monument Protection Programme. The programme ended before the entire list of sites was successfully scheduled so this is included on a local list of Nationally Important Sites.
