An oval depression circa 30 metres in width is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 to the south of Blatchborough House.
The depression does not correspond with features on available historic maps from the mid-19th century. It is interpreted as a post-medieval to early 19th century extractive pit that ceased to be worked by circa 1840.
