An irregular shaped depression approximately 25 metres by 10 metres is visible as a distinct earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
The depression itself does not correspond with any features depicted on the available 19th century historic maps, however it aligns with a small unlabelled linear earthwork with short track leading to it depicted on the other side of a field boundary on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch Second Edition map. This feature is not depicted on later or earlier maps.
The earthwork depression terminates at the field boundary and it is probable that extractive work on either side was undertaken by different landowners.
The depression is interpreted as a late 19th or early 20th century extractive pit that ceased to be worked by the mid-20th century.
