An approximately north-south orientated curvilinear ditch, between 5 and 12 metres in width is visible as a subtle earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data. The ditch is situated within a field to the immediate south of Alfardisworthy and within a recorded curvilinear enclosure field system (MDV80968).
The ditch does not correspond with any features depicted on the available 19th century historic maps, however it is in parallel with former field boundaries depicted on historic maps. The historic landscape is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields. The medieval settlement of Alfardisworthy or Alsworthy is recorded to the north (MDV71189).
The ditch is interpreted as a medieval to post-medieval field boundary that passed out of use prior to circa 1840, and may have formed part of a medieval strip field system associated with the settlement.
