The bank forming the reservoir 'dam' has a central gap for a sluice. Within this gap is a boundstone (MDV 48126). This reservoir is at a remarkably high altitude (about 1650 feet OD) and can only have been used to collect surface run-off. It serves tinworks known collectively as Bourne's Pit. It is marked on Fig. 2 in Newman, P (2019) An Archaeological Earthwork Survey of Tinworks along the River Mardle, Dartmoor National Park, Devon (OASIS southwes2 - 361610) and is mentioned on p.4 of the same. Photo taken 02/11/1997.
