An oval depression approximately 16 metres by 8 metres is visible as a subtle earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. It is situated near the roadside boundary of a field north of East Youlstone.
The earthwork depression does not correspond with any features depicted on the available 19th century historic maps and is interpreted as a probable post-medieval or 19th century extractive pit that ceased to be worked by the 1880s.
