HER Number:MDV129762
Name:Hut circle and section of wall on Holne Moor, Holne

Summary

A possible hut circle bisected by a tinners gulley lies on the floodplain of the Venford Brook 300m SE of Horn's Cross. The site of the hut is marked by a semi-circle of stones indicating a diameter of around 3.0m. Because of later disturbance it is not possible to determine whether a platform has been created for the hut or the position of any entrance. Three edge-set granite slabs almost certainly associated with the tinning form the E side of this structure.
While the surface remains of the hut are very dubious the adjoining length of field wall, 1.1m wide and 0.4m high, are credible though it too has been truncated by the tinning in this area.
