An irregular shaped depression approximately 19 metres by 13 metres is visible as a clearly defined earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
The depression does not correspond with any features depicted on the available 19th century historic maps. The plot is recorded as ‘Part Steart’ and under coppice management in the Tithe Apportionment. It is depicted as woodland on later historic and modern maps.
The earthwork depression is interpreted as a probable post-medieval extractive pit that ceased to be worked by circa 1840.
