An oval or sub-circular cropmark of probable prehistoric date was visible on aerial photographs on the gentle south-east facing slopes to the west of Hayne House. The cropmark is less than 3 metres in width and defines an enclosed area approximately 30 metres by 18 metres across. No internal features were identified. It is possible that the cropmark enclosed one or more barrows of Bronze Age date as part of a possible cemetery in this area. Alternatively, the sub-rectangular form of this enclosure might support an interpretation as a mortuary enclosure of Neolithic date.
