An irregularly shaped pit, circa 30 metres long by 22 metres wide, is visible as a shallow earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004 and 2013. The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the available historic maps, although an earthwork labelled as ‘Old Quarry’ is shown immediately to the south-east on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map.
It is therefore interpreted as a post-medieval or 19th century extractive pit which had probably passed out of use by the late 19th century.
