A sub-circular mound, circa 26 metres in diameter, is visible as a dark vegetation mark on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2001 and as a subtle earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004 and 2013.
No features are shown in this exact location on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map, although three earthworks labelled as ‘Tumuli’ are depicted in proximity to the north-east. The earthwork is located amongst a group of five barrows (MDV76198, MDV60124, MDV7116, MDV7117 & MDV7118) that are aligned along the edge of a ridge on a north-east to south-west orientation. This supports the interpretation that this earthwork is a possible Bronze Age barrow.
Further investigation, such as a site inspection, is recommended to help establish the origin of this earthwork.
