An oval depression approximately 10 metres by 8 metres is visible as a subtle earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data. It is situated in a field to the immediate west of West Bursdon Farm.
The depression does not correspond with any features depicted on the available 19th century historic maps and is interpreted as the remains of a probable post-medieval or 19th century extractive pit that ceased to be worked by the 1880s. Alternatively, it may be of modern origin.
