Two curvilinear ditches orientated north-south and circa 2 metres in width are visible as subtle earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
They do not correspond with any features depicted on 19th century historic maps, however they are in parallel to extant and depicted field boundaries. The plot is recorded in the Tithe Apportionment as ‘Three Parks’ and may have once comprised three separate parcels. The land is characterised as historically comprising post-medieval enclosures with medieval elements, with land characterised as medieval strip enclosures to the immediate east.
The ditches are interpreted as medieval field boundaries that may have formed part of a strip field system, and that passed out of use prior to circa 1840. Alternatively, it is possible they could be drainage ditches.
