Two roughly square depressions, both between approximately 20 and 23 metres across, are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on the available 19th century historic maps. They are situated in a curvilinear field enclosure recorded in the Tithe Apportionment as ‘Back Side’ in the centre of the settlement of Tredown and surrounded by land recorded as former common land.
The depression earthworks are interpreted as probable extractive pits of post-medieval to 19th century origin.
