Full description
Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
The ditches do not correspond with any depicted features. The plot name is recorded as ‘Plots’.

Ditches, orientated both north-south and east-west and between 7 and 22 metres in width, are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
They are situated in a curvilinear field enclosure immediately to the south of the settlement of Darracott, the shape of which is respected by the road along its northern boundary. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on the available 19th century historic maps. The plot is recorded as ‘Plots’ in the Tithe Apportionment and may therefore have comprised several field enclosures at one time, or may possibly have formed part of the settlement.
The banks are interpreted as probable field boundaries of medieval to post-medieval origin that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
