Earthworks of curvilinear banks and a ditch, between 2.5-8 metres wide and orientated north-west to south-east and north-east to south-west, are visible on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
The earthworks occupy an area of circa 4 hectares of steep east and south-east facing slope. They do not correspond with any curvilinear features shown in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on later available historic maps, but are in keeping with the surrounding historic field pattern, which is characterised as medieval enclosures.
The form of the earthworks supports the interpretation that they are relict field boundaries of a medieval or post-medieval field system which had been removed by the mid-19th century.
Several banks visible to the east at circa SX38648139 have been tentatively attributed to this field system. They are interspersed with earthworks of post-medieval or 19th century quarrying (MDV40925), but their form and coincidence with the surrounding historic field pattern suggests that they are less likely to be associated with these workings.
