A curvilinear ditch between circa 4 and 9 metres in width and 60 metres in length, and orientated east-west is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data. The ditch is situated in an irregular shaped plot of woodland recorded as ‘Trapple Budge’ in the Tithe Apportionment and adjacent to a road leading to a ford or possible bridge across Marsland Water (MDV75353).
The east part of the ditch corresponds with a field boundary depicted on the available historic 19th century maps and modern maps. The west part of the ditch, circa 35 metres, does not correspond with any depicted features. This section adjoins the road to the west and aligns approximately with a field boundary on the other side of the road.
The ditch is interpreted as a field boundary of medieval to post-medieval origin, part of which passed out of use prior to circa 1840, possibly when the road was constructed.
