An oval depression approximately 16 metres by 26 metres is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data. It is situated in a field to the east of Chapmans Well and abuts a field boundary.
The depression does not correspond with any features depicted on the available 19th century historic maps. The plot is recorded as ‘Haggett Piece’ and under ‘morassy pasture’ cultivation.
The earthwork depression is interpreted as a probable post-medieval or early 19th century extractive pit that ceased to be worked by the 1880s.
