Summary
A curvilinear bank south of Headweir Copse is visible as a subtle earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and is tentatively interpreted as a field boundary of medieval to post-medieval origin that passed out of use by the mid-19th century, however it may have a geological origin.

A curvilinear bank orientated approximately north-east to south-west and between circa 6 and 8 metres in width is visible as a subtle earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
The bank is situated on a north-west facing slope in a field south of Headweir Copse. It does not correspond with any features depicted on the available 19th century historic maps, however it follows the same approximate shape as a field boundary to the immediate south-east. The bank corresponds with the topographical contours of the landscape.
The bank is tentatively interpreted as a medieval to post-medieval field boundary that passed out of use by circa 1840, however it may be a natural geological ridge.
Understanding Landscapes Project, 2020-2021, University of Exeter Understanding Landscapes Project - Volunteer data, 562.1 (Interpretation). SDV363949.
Field boundary not shown on epoch 1. SX334930
