An irregular depression approximately 55 metres by 15 metres and situated in a field to the north-west of Higher West Panson Farm is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004 and 2013.
The depression does not correspond with any features depicted on the available 19th century historic maps. It does correspond with an area of rough ground shown on 1940s aerial imagery and is visible as a faint cropmark in aerial imagery taken between 2001 and 2019. The depression is interpreted as a probable post-medieval or 19th century extractive pit that ceased to be worked by the 1880s.
