A series of parallel linear banks circa 5 metres and ditches circa 2 metres in width and orientated approximately north-west to south-east are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004. The earthworks are situated within a small field within the village of Hele on a gentle south-east facing slope.
The earthworks correspond with the location of an orchard first depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch Second Edition map. The plot remained under orchard cultivation until the mid to late-20th century.
The earthwork banks and ditches are interpreted as late-19th to early 20th century planting ridges for orchard trees.
