Two sub-circular pits, both circa 10 metres diameter, are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2005. The earthworks correspond with a copse which is depicted on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance survey map.
They are therefore interpreted as post-medieval or early 19th century extractive pits that had probably passed out of use by the mid to late 19th century, by which time the redundant pits had become subsumed by woodland.
The earthworks are not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to thick tree cover.
