Summary
Curvilinear and linear banks, interpreted as relict field boundaries of a medieval strip field system, are visible as earthworks on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2001 and visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004 and 2013. The field boundaries had been removed by the mid-19th century.

Curvilinear and linear banks, circa 7 metres wide and orientated north-west to south-east and east to west, are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004 and 2013.
The earthworks do not correspond with any features shown in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on later available historic maps, but are in keeping with the surrounding historic field pattern, which is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields.
The form of the earthworks supports the interpretation that they are relict field boundaries of a medieval strip field system, the boundaries having been removed by the mid-19th century.
The earthworks in this location have been recorded by two separate volunteers during the Understanding Landscapes Project and include points 450.2 and 450.11.
Understanding Landscapes Project, 2020-2021, University of Exeter Understanding Landscapes Project - Volunteer data, 450.2; 450.11 (Interpretation). SDV363949.
450.2
Earthworks of a possible circular embanked enclosure. SX 3929683084
450.11
Four field strips crossed by a later field boundary. SX393831.
