Narrow curvilinear ditches, less than 2m wide, are visible as earthworks on 1940’s aerial photographs and visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004 and 2013.
The earthwork channels broadly follow the contours of the north-east facing combe slope and occupy an area of circa 0.4 hectares. They are interpreted as post-medieval or 19th century water channels, or the possible gutters of a catch meadow irrigation system associated with Hall Farm that tapped a spring-fed stream circa 40 metres to the south. The earthworks do not correspond with any curvilinear features in this location on the late 19th century Ordnance Survey First Edition map.
