Summary
A curvilinear bank and ditch are visible as subtle earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004 and 2013 south-east of West Panson. They are interpreted as a medieval to post-medieval field boundary that passed out of use by the late-19th century.

The ditch corresponds partially with a boundary in an area of woodland to the south-east. The earthworks are in parallel with adjacent field boundaries.

A curvilinear bank circa 110 metres in length, with adjacent ditch circa 120 metres in length, both being approximately 5 metres in width, are visible as subtle earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004 and 2013. The earthworks are situated in a field south-east of West Panson and orientated approximately north-west to south-east on a south-east facing slope and lead to a watercourse.
The ditch in the south-east part of the feature extends into an area of woodland depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition map and partially corresponds to a boundary within it. The bank and ditch are in parallel with depicted adjacent field boundaries, earthwork remains of which are similar to that identified. The earthwork feature is visible as a cropmark, along with adjacent former field boundaries, in aerial photographs from 2019. The historic landscape is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields.
The bank and ditch are interpreted as a medieval to post-medieval field boundary that passed out of use by the late-19th century. Alternatively, it is possible, given the topographical position of the earthworks and their proximity to a watercourse, that they relate to post-medieval drainage.
