Summary
A depression is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004 and 2013 at Pinslow Farm. It corresponds partially with a quarry marked on historic maps and is interpreted as an extractive pit of 19th century origin that may have been worked into the early 20th century.

An irregular shaped depression circa 28 by 16 metres is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004 and 2013. It is situated closely to the north-west of Pinslow Farm adjacent to the roadside.
The depression corresponds partially with a small quarry depicted and labelled on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch First and Second Edition maps. Aerial photography from the 1940s appears to show tree cover in the location of the quarry and it likely passed out of use by this time.
The earthwork depression appears larger than that depicted on historic maps, and it may have been subsequently expanded. Alternatively, there may be some confusion within the lidar data due to a modern building immediately south.
The model farm of Pinslow Farm is recorded adjacent, having been established in the mid-19th century (MDV61870).
The depression is interpreted as an extractive pit of probable mid-19th century date, contemporary to the building of the model farm, which may have been worked into the early-20th century.
