An irregular shaped depression approximately 15 by 40 metres is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004 and 2013. It is situated immediately adjacent to a recorded medieval to post-medieval enclosure north of Pinslow Farm.
The depression does not correspond with any features depicted on the available 19th century or modern maps. An area of post-medieval ridge and furrow is recorded to the north (MDV129997) – it is not clear whether the ridge and furrow respected the extent of the depression or whether the earthwork truncated the ridge and furrow. The earthwork depression does not extend into the adjacent recorded enclosure (MDV129998). A large extractive pit to the north is recorded and may have been worked into the 20th century (MDV129921).
The depression is interpreted as an extractive pit of post-medieval to early 20th century origin.
