Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The mound does not correspond with any features depicted on the available historic maps. The land is recorded as belonging to the Church.

A small oval mound circa 10 metres by 8 metres is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. It is situated at 120 metres above Ordnance Datum in a south-east facing field above Lana Lake river to the east of Moortown Plantation.
The mound does not correspond with any features depicted on the available historic maps. It is situated on recorded glebe land in the Tithe Survey for Tetcott. It is visible on aerial photographs from 2002 onwards.
The mound is of unknown origin and purpose, however it has been tentatively interpreted as a Bronze Age barrow.
