An irregularly shaped depression circa 35 metres in length and between circa 8 and 15 metres in width is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. It is situated in an east facing field above Lana Lake river to the east of Moortown Plantation.
The depression does not correspond with any features depicted on the available historic maps and is interpreted as an extractive pit of post-medieval to 19th century origin, that ceased to be worked prior to the late-19th century.
