An oval depression circa 17 metres by 14 metres is visible as a subtle earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2004 and 2013. It is situated in a north-east facing field to the north-east of Luffincott.
The depression appears to be formed on the edge of a natural subtle ridge and does not correspond with any features depicted on the available historic maps.
The depression is interpreted as an extractive pit of post-medieval to 19th century origin that ceased to be worked prior to circa 1880.
